The InterContinental Riyadh Hotel is a 5 stars luxury hotel in Riyadh. It is one of the best in the city where visitors can enjoy playing gold, bowling, tennis, racquetball and swimming. The location of this hotel is great too since it’s in the city center of Riyadh. It offers also a fantastic dinning opportunities at Mondo restaurants (Asian-Western fusion), Al Bustan restaurant, and Addiwan Tea Lounge for snacks, coffee and tea.
For our friend birthday dinner last month, we went to Al Bustan restaurant. Al Bustan restaurant is located in the lobby level offers international buffet. It is open from 6:00 am to 1:00 am. The price for one person is 230 SR. We went during week days, there was maximum 4 families that day.
Food choices where good ( Arabic, Indian, Chinese, western…). It was a small buffet but it includes a variety of choice for food.
There was a spicy Moroccan tomato and chickpea soup (Harira) and sambusa filled with meat, chicken or vegetables, some curry puff and kebbeh (middle eastern dish made of bulgur, minced onions, and finely ground lean beef with middle eastern spices).
Salad station includes a variety of oriental salads like tabouleh, moutabbal, olive salad, chick peas salad, fatoush, homos, and mouhamara…
Another part of the appetizers station includes salmon salads, pasta salad, corn salad, tuna salad, salmon potato salad, freshly cut vegetables to create your own salad. There was also salami and turkey slices, salmon in different types …
Dishes with lamb in different sauces, fish curry, …
Mixed grill …
Lamb kabsa, fish and corriander sauce, Jarish…
Poached shrimp, potato gratin, steamed vegetable, …
Pasta live cooking station choices
Vegetables choices for the live cooking station …
The Live cooking station was my favorite – Fresh and tasty!
Different sauces to add flavor to the dishes.
Even though we ate a lot but we saved some room for the best part : the dessert. It is always one of my favorite part of any buffet meal. The buffet offers both local and western styles desserts.
There was many types of cakes, puddings, fruits… I was a little bit disappointed, I went twice to the buffet at lunch time and there was a wider range.
Other than that, the Salad Station also offers a selection of imported cheese such as Gouda, Cheddar, Brie and Blue Cheese along with dried fruits and nuts.
Maybe a small negative thing is that some salami slice looked somehow dry maybe it’s because there weren’t so many people and it was exposed in the appetizers station.
Overall, we had an enjoyable experience dining at Al Bustan. The service was excellent and serving staffs were generally very polite and attentive. Water is topped up regularly and plates are cleared promptly.
I really like going to restaurants that offers buffet because you get to enjoy many choices of food and not only one meal.
